Situational Analysis | November 4, 2026

It’s National Stress Awareness Day. Appropriate for the day after elections….

What you need to know

  • The blue tsunami materialized across the country, as Democrats took control of the US House and Senate. Seats flipped even in solidly red states like Iowa and Kansas and in Texas - Texas! - Democrats swept all statewide races. As of this morning, Democrats have 54 seats in the US Senate to 44 for Republicans. 2 Senate seats have yet to be called. In the US House, Democrats have 228 seats (218 is the majority), Republicans have 139 and 68 remain to be called.

  • The blue wave even hit Utah. Democrat Ben McAdams is headed back to Congress, representing Utah’s newly-drawn first Congressional District. And, in the Utah legislature, 18 Republican incumbents are currently on track to lose their elections, including a top Senate leader, and the GOP super-majority looks like it has been broken.
